Date-based Genealogy:

The ability to link a finished product produced during a specific timeframe with materials used within that timeframe.

 

Lot-based Genealogy:

The ability to link a finished product lot with its corresponding material lot.

 

Serialized Genealogy:

The ability to link a uniquely identified finished product with a uniquely identified material.

 

Hybrids: 

Combinations of the above based on the value associated with the specificity of the information.

 

Forward Genealogy: 

Begin with a material identity and view all of the products created with similar materials.  

 

Backward Genealogy: 

Begin with a product identity and view all of the materials used to create the product.
